The hand is a complex group of tissues that function together as one of the most important parts of our bodies. The skin of the hand is commonly exposed to the elements and, therefore, it is especially susceptible to environmental injury. Sun damage, chemicals, and sunburns are common examples. The hand is probably the most frequent site of irritant and contact dermatitis. Other types of conditions, such as autoimmune problems (eg, psoriasis) will affect the hand as well.
